Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his own means, invading the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can anticipate discovering which characters will be where in the season’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
