Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He saved four early-game chances in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
